About
The Dirty Riffs are a popular, regular gigging Rock/Pop cover band out of the Guelph/KW area. They are known for their high energy sets and quality musicianship, and their shows are dynamic and foster a party atmosphere playing favorites from 60's right through the millennium.
Singer, Dan Rintoul grew up in a musical family in British Columbia. Starting on drums at the age of 10, found influences from many mixed musical genres ,now finds himself singing in front of the kit. He feeds off the energy of the crowd and wants them to have as much fun as he is having.
Guitarist Cary Juan has played with bands varying in styles from Blues, to Rock, Funk and Alternative. His session work and recordings for solo acts such as Ben Segev, and collaborations with DJ Wolfe and Criminal Inhibition were well received. He has enjoyed performing across the GTA at venues such as the legendary Horseshoe and charity events at Rogers Centre. After moving to Waterloo Region a few years ago, he has been enjoying the rich musical community.
Bassist Brendan Somerville found his calling in music from a young age, starting with piano. His music journey has since lead him to bass and guitar. Sound influences include Radiohead, Them Crooked Vultures, and Queen, setting the groundwork for his solid bass lines and creative flexibility.
As the saying goes, “everything old is new again”. Well, for drummer Paul Laufert, this applies. A serious and dedicated student of the instrument throughout his teens, Paul left playing for almost 30 years while pursuing family, career and other life goals. He has now returned to his love of music and drums after this hiatus and provides a solid foundation for the band. Influences are varied and include Steve Gadd, Neil Peart, Buddy Rich, Dave Weckl, Steve Jordan among others….
